THE GREEK FOOD
Greek Cuisine is a fantastic mix of Oriental, Asian, Balkan, European and Mediterranean food with influences from the Ancient Greece and the Byzantine times to today's contemporary era.
Being the crossroad between Europe and Asia, Greece has found ways to match ingredients and recipes from both sides with exotic, delicious results that give food a unique taste. Olive oil, olives, vegetables, herbs and fruit play a key role in the Greek food while butter and red meat are not used that often. In recent years scientific research and medical evidence have shown that high quantities of olive oil, vegetables and fruit result in lower cancer rates.
Perhaps that is why Greece is a country low in cancer rates and high in life expectancy.
